Abstract

In 2009, the Indigenous Road Safety Working Group received support from Austroads to fund a demonstration project — a Safe System audit of an Indigenous community in Australia. An accompanying report Literature Review and Methods presents the literature review and methodology components of Part A and Part B. The literature review proved successful in informing the development of culturally appropriate methods that resulted in identifying a demonstration community that unanimously welcomed the project— the Bidyadanga Community in Western Australia. The literature review identified the need to work together with the successful community both to conduct the audit and develop an implementation plan. These next stages were therefore undertaken collaboratively with the Bidyadanga Community and therefore the results are presented in this report, Audit and Implementation Plan, co-authored by the Community CEO and Council Chair, Mr Peter Yip.
