Abstract

The SAFESPOT Project is investigating how cooperative vehicles and roads can increase safety. This paper focuses on the vehicular platform within SAFESPOT and its main task of fusing information from on-board sensors and wireless LAN messages sent by other nodes. The output of the platform is described, namely enhanced information relating to the platform carrying vehicle and other objects in the environment, as well as situational information from observing the relationships between these dynamic objects and the static road network. Results from functional and performance platform tests are presented.
