Abstract

In this interview, Elizabeth Macdonald discusses the different ways in which neighborhoods can be made "walkable". She also describes the obstacles that keep transportation planners and engineers from realizing such goals. These barriers include lack of communication or understanding between those in the planning and engineering fields, and outmoded city ordinances and street standards.
