Abstract

Buses and coaches have a record of safety that surpasses all other forms of passenger road transport. From a survey of coach accident research in different countries, it is possible to determine the type of impact and distribution of casualties. The two most significant types of accident resulting in death and serious injury to occupants is the frontal impact and the rollover accidents. Developments in the UK in the construction of safer buses are presented.
