This report presents the results of shock absorption tests performed on 13 brands of helmets being sold in Delhi. The tests show that as far as shock absorption is concerned, the full scale helmets in general perform better than half face helmets and BIS certified helmets generally perform better than those not so certified. However, there are exceptions to these observations. The tests also show that the scale price of the helmet does not necessarily reflect the relative quality of the helmet. Guidelines for consumers and suggestions for changes in the helmet standard are included in the report.
