Abstract
Part I of this report outlines, in general, the requirements types and effectiveness of safety belts as a traffic accident countmeasure. Part II deals with surveys, carried out by An Foras Forbartha, to obtain information on the proportion of cars with safety belts fitted and on the usage of these belts. The report also analyses the costs resulting from the fitting of safety belts to cars and the expected benefits in terms of casualties reduced.
