Abstract

The paper reviews the progress made since 1978 to provide for the safety of children in cars. Traffic regulations to bring children of all ages under similar requirements are expected in mid- 1984. The New Zealand standard on child restraints, has been revised to include more recent designs and dynamic crash testing. With the introduction of regulations and continued promotion. A further increase in use of restraints and finally a reduction in casualties can be anticipated.
