Abstract

In this paper the safety level of different medium sized Greek cities is cross-examined. Emphasis is given to junctions previously characterised as black spots. A number of parameters such as pedestrian flows, land use, traffic volumes, pavement condition, signalling system and other characteristics were taken into account. As a result of this comparative analysis an attempt has been made to develop a qualitative model embracing all of the parameters and suggesting appropriate solutions.
