Abstract

A new application system of RFID technology for safety driving support was studied in order to reduce traffic accidents near intersections. In this paper, an experimental system that senses the existence and positions of pedestrians with RFID tag, sends the data to an on-board device and notifies it to the driver is reported. An inter-vehicle-communication function by onboard repeater that is incorporated into the system mentioned above in order to extend the total transmission range of the alert information between pedestrians and vehicles is described.
