Abstract

Following on from the production of recommendations for the development of safe Advanced Transport Telematics (ATT) systems during DRIVE I, project PASSPORT has developed a method for systematically analysing an ATT system for its safety hazards, so that the safety objectives and requirements can be defined. The method which is based on an extended data-flow diagram, has proved extremely effective when applied to a number of the DRIVE II projects, enabling the identification of many safety hazards that had not been recognised before.
