Abstract

Based upon an extensive investigation of head injuries occurring in motorcycle accidents, a critical analysis of the major helmet standards and a laboratory assessment of the protective capabilities of currently available helmets, is made. The Canadian standard in particular is analysed and this standard has been shown to be inadequate in terms of impact and coverage requirements.
