Abstract

Based on German regulations and the results achieved through research, design of level junctions and multi-level junctions has been observed from the point of view of traffic safety increase. Analysing accidents and the behavioural habits of drivers, it has been concluded that fork junctions provide more safety than the usual cross roads, that visibility on the secondary roads can be lower when freight is negligible and that in many cases shorter lanes for left turning would be suffice.
