Abstract

The program, Ville plus sure, quartiers sans accidents, was launched in 1984, with goals of integrating motorized traffic into urbanenvironments with due regard to local participation and awareness. This paper briefly describes the project, and describes the results obtained. The initial results show a drop in accidents of approximately 60% a decrease in average speeds, and an especially significant drop in excessively high speeds. (A)
