Abstract

In this project the author sets out to determine if an intervention which has been designed to assess whether solutions to the safety problems, shown by the literature to be of importance, is acceptable to older drivers. The aims of the project were: (1) To provide an objective means of determining if an individual can continue to drive safely, particularly with regard to the effects of disease and ageing; (2) To provide assistance to drivers returning to driving after illness; and (3) To provide a means of informing drivers of the need to stop driving without compromising the doctor patient relationship.
