Abstract

An experimental study was designed to inquire into the differential effect of available sanctions for drivers found guilty of the first offence of drunken driving. One of the most striking findings of the study was the inability of the court to maintain and fulfill its organizational commitment to the study. Reasons for this failure are lack of commitment on the part of the operating personnel, and to other pressures from the actors in the legal system.
