Abstract

The ScenarioExplorer is an instrument which makes it possible to explore long term developments in transport demand. The first version of this instrument was produced in 1994. This first version of the ScenarioExplorer is recently validated, which has lead to the conclusion that the instrument needed to be modified on a few points. The objective of this work was to improve the ScenarioExplorer in such a way that it could be used autonomously by others. The new ScenarioExplorer version 1.2 has been changed in the following ways: 1. in the car park model the relationship between car park size and demographic development is improved; 2. in the economic module: the development of employment has been correlated in a realistic way to the development of wages and energy prices; 3. some changes have been made to the calculation of the equilibrium in the transportation demand model. New parameters for the equilibrium mechanism have been derived, during this process it has become clear that the equilibrium mechanism itself is a sound method for this kind of calculation; 4. the interface has been slightly modified; 5. a setup procedure has been developed. The ScenarioExplorer version 1.2 will be available from the Research unit of the ministry of Transport and Public works in the near future. (A)
