Abstract

Reports were selected from files of accident involving pedestrians between 5 and 15 years old, which occurred between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on schooldays in San Diego County. Younger males were involved in the majority of the collisions. In 40 of the 53 cases reported, the pedestrian was found to be at fault. Less than 10% of the accidents occurred within one-quarter mile of the school.
