Abstract

The play street is a street temporarily closed to traffic while a variety of supervised recreational activities for all age groups take place. Since no construction is required in order to require the play street, the play street program brings an accident reduction potential and a number of social, educational, and recreational benefits at a comparatively low cost. This report describes the methodology used in gathering data to New York City play streets.
