Scour at bridge waterways.

Abstract

This synthesis is concerned with the prediction of and design for scour in the material supporting the foundations of the bridge. Scour is the erosive action of running water in streams, in excavating ans carrying a way material from the bed and banks. Specific recommendations for hydrologic, hydraulic, and geologic investigation and field measurements are given.
