Abstract

This paper summarizes the literature describing Australian experience of the crash performance of 3-point combination lap/sash belts supposedly constructed, fitted and worn in compliance with the laws of Australian States. Sections of the paper deal respectively with the statistics of belt wearing, abdominal injuries associated with belt wearing and head injuries sustained in spite of belt wearing.
