Abstract

The question of adults with polycystic kidney disease wearing seat belts is discussed. Information is provided on previous reports. It is suggested that perhaps patients with polycystic kidneys should use a heavily padded or cushioned seat belt with a shoulder restraint mechanism which would decrease the force delivered exclusively to the flank in an accident.
