Abstract

The review is based on studies relevant to seat belt use, reported between 1960-1970. Following a general discussion on the methodology used, the findings of the surveys are grouped according to those variables most extensively studied. Studies of seat belt use promoting campaigns are also discussed in the light of the specific methodological difficulties and weaknesses. A few problem areas in need of research are suggested.
