Abstract
The proportion of front seat car occupants wearing seat belts and the proportion of cars filled with seat belts to the front seats were studied. The proportion of all front seat car occupants wearing seat belts rose from 9-28% on motorways, from 7-20% on A class roads, from 5-8% on town roads, from 2-8% in central London. This survey suggested that regional differences may be less important than those due to class of road and type of journey.
