Abstract

This paper details the secondary road system in Romania and its administration. Its purpose is to recommend the setting up of national and international working groups to discuss standards for secondary roads, such as currently exist for primary and non-public secondary roads and the way in which this road system contributes to economic development. The author recommends that more importance should be given to the study and design of secondary roads and that further work needs to be done on improving design and safety standards with a national and international focus.
