Abstract

This report relates traffic flow and road inventory information to accident occurrence on rural sections of the national road network. The method used to examine the interrelations was multiple regression analysis. The main results obtained are 1. traffic flow was the variable most closely related to accident occurrence 2. roadside developments along the road section have an adverse effect on accident occurrence and are the most important influence on the number of accidents.
