Abstract

This paper presents the results of a sensitivity analysis of the Bridge Health Index (BHI) to variations in the element failure costs (FC) and element condition. A set of observed bridge performance and recommended element failure costs, acquired from the results of previous research, were usedto perform the analyses. The paper discusses the detailed process for theanalysis and the profound explications of its results. The findings can guide state agencies and practitioners with a sense of how BHI responds to changing bridge condition as well as element FCs.
