Abstract

The objective of this study is to develop a more efficient solution algorithm for the taxi model with elastic demand in a congested road network. This taxi model can serve as a tool to evaluate the level of taxi service in terms of taxi utilization, waiting times of taxis and passengers, taxi demands, cost and revenue generation of taxis, and so on, with respect to the regulatory measures such as taxi fleet and fare control in the city. A new sensitivity-based solution algorithm is proposed in which the computation of the Jacobian matrix in the SLNE will take into account the characteristics of the CNEM. The paper will start with a summary of the various key components and relationships in a 1 model. The new sensitivity-based solution algorithm is then proposed and a wide rang computational experiments are conducted to illustrate the computational efficiency of proposed sensitivity-based algorithm over the original quasi-Newtonian one.
