Abstract

This study describes in mathematical terms a procedure employed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the Department of Transportation for the analysis of two-vehicle accidents. The procedure contains an Assignment Rule in which one of the involved driver-vehicle combination is assigned to the class of active involvement and the other driver-vehicle combination is assigned to the class of passive involvement.
