Abstract

Sensor technology can generate information automatically and in real time, and if utilized appropriately, this could help organizations approach a more proactive role in their ways of working. This paper reports from an analysis of how the Swedish railroad administration has employed sensor technology and it identifies and discusses the potentials that this technology holds as well as the obstacles that threaten to hinder the adoption of the same. The paper finds that there are both technological and organizational challenges to overcome.
