Abstract
Service reliability is an important quality characteristic of public transport. This thesis presents an analysis of the causes and of the passenger impacts of unreliability of urban public transport services. Planning instruments are introduced enabling a cost-effective increase of service reliability. This thesis demonstrates that during the network and timetable design of public transport several opportunities exist to increase the level of service reliability substantially. (Author/publisher)
