Abstract

This paper presents guidelines for in-service road safety operational reviews of temporary traffic control (TTC) in work zones. For this paper an in-service operational review was recently completed on several road construction sites around Calgary, Alberta to determine the relative safety of construction zones. This includes an analysis of the TTC plans and the actual TTC setups at nine different sites. The operational review takes the origins of the TTC plan into account, whether it was designed by the City or by private industry.
