The shadow casting performance of the human form is discribed in several typical lighting systems. 2 and 3 dimensions idealized representations of the human form are defined as standard shadowcasters. Uniform luminous sources representing a window and a ceiling panel are investigated. A digital computer analysis allows specification of the umbral, penumbral and ultra-umbral regions on a table located symmetrically with respect to the human-form-shadow-casters. The analytical methods empolying modern computers allow the detailed engineering design of shadow conditions.
