Abstract

The paper developed a number of scenarios regarding the future of ITS using the scenario planning method based on the viewpoint that the harder it is to develop perceptions about the future of something, the more important to have future visions on it. This report, whose theme is "Car Life in 2010 Perceived from IT Environment," discusses results of the workshop that we held to draw out hypotheses. From a number of influential factors that we assume will influence future car life, we drew out the factors that we thought are most uncertain and have greatest impact: (1) whether seamless integration of hardware and software advances; and (2) extent of people's involvement with/interest in cars. We developed four scenarios of future car life based on their combinations, and presented tasks that ITS promoters should attain in each scenario.
