Abstract

A successful project where freeway lanes have been set aside for the exclusive use of buses is described. A series of improvements in the preferential treatment of buses has led to travel time savings of 5 to 30 minutes and resulted in a substantial gain in bus patronage. Results of travel surveys in the corridor are discussed, and early indicators of the modal choice are described.
