Abstract

Short- term accident monitoring provides a timely and accurate picture of any changes in level rather than level per se of road safety. The various accident data sources with a view to developing a short- term accident monitoring system are reviewed. Techniques of time series analysis are applied to forecast road accident numbers, using tow- truck allocation data.
