Abstract

The Field Accident Studies system developed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been changing from general multidisciplinary accident investigation projects to mission oriented multilevel, bilevel, and special studies. Specific examples of highway improvements, policy changes, and vehicle improvements, instituted as a result of accident investigation activities, are briefly presented.
