Abstract

The social accident insurance system in the Federal Republic of Germany is presented. The legal situation and the tasks of the industrial employment accident insurance funds which support all enterprises in the transport sector in the implementation of the necessary safety and health protection measures of the employees are described in detail. Attention is drawn to essential accident prevention regulations concerning systems and machines. The organisation of prevention within the enterprises in the transport sector is explained and the future development in the field of safety technique and occupational medicine is presented. The condition for a free circulation of goods within the Common Market is the harmonisation of the technical rules and regulations. The way of proceeding in the adaptation of the occupational safety regulations at national level is described and the effects on the regulations of the industrial employment accident insurance funds are shown.
