Abstract

The aim of the operational signalling is to regulate the traffic with the best safety attainable, by advertising and guiding the road users, in a flexible mode matching itself with the traffic. The first experiment of flexible signalling was carried out on a motorway of 10 km. The system contains 15 signal units, consisting of a cross arm supporting a panel of dynamic signalling per lane, and of lane allocation traffic lights, regulated and checked form the operational station.
