Abstract

In designing signs or a sign system for pedestrians, the designer must develop standards that adhere to principals of clarity and legibility of message as well as fulfil the given requirements in any situation. A popular notion on the problem of letters and signs is to incorporate the use of symbols or pictograms to convey messages, thereby eliminating words.
