Abstract

The SIMO (operational Monitoring System) program is designed to serve and to advise the driver who uses the Tiete and Pinheiros Expressways, which comprises 98 km of roads around Sao Paulo City, one of the world's largest metropolis. This program also intends to amplify the efficiency of (1) the speed limit control, (2) cargo exceeding permitted heights and (3) variations in traffic volume. When implemented and combined with the work of road reconstruction, the above system will help improve the quality of traffic operation by CET (Traffic Engineering Company) and reduce accidents. (A)
