Abstract

A mathematical simulation model of pedestrian accidents is developed with the aid of the madymo computer program for a better representation of pedestrians when they are hit by a car. The report is set up as follows: (1) a literature report into experimental and mathematical reconstruction of pedestrian accidents is made. (2) statistics of pedestrian accidents are analyzed. (3) a program of requirements for a mathematical model of pedestrian accidents is set up. (4) based on this a mathematical model is developed and the forecasts of this model are compared with the results of experimental research. (5) a program of requirements is set up for a car which is of more benefit for the pedestrian and this program is evaluated with the aid of the developed mathematical model, and (6) a number of design proposals is realised and evaluated for the program of requirements.
