Abstract

This paper describes a traffic model in urban environments for its implementation in simulators. The model simulates some hundreds vehicles and pedestrians and traffic lights. The model includes different degrees of aggressiveness of simulated drivers and different types of vehicles. Since it is oriented to applications in real time, it is necessary to obtain a balance between the model realism and the calculation speed. It is applicable to traffic control studies through the adjustment of traffic lights regulation or to the evaluation of the impact that can have on the traffic the cut or opening of new tracks or streets.
