Abstract

This paper describes the simulation of dynamic TRANSYT signal control using PARAMICS API. TRANSYT, an established model for the computation of fixed-time signal plan, has been interfaced with the PARAMICS microscopic traffic simulation model. At regular time intervals, TRANSYT collects input data from the simulation model, and calculates new signal timing plans, which will be implemented in the simulation. The process of dynamic TRANSYT signal control has been illustrated through a small network. Comparison of network traffic performance, in terms of overall delay, has been made against that of static TRANSYT signal setting.
