Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to compare the results of the BOMBARDIER ILTIS vehicle simulations between the computer programs FASIM, MEDYNA, NEWEUL AND SIMPACK. These test simulations involve respectively: (1) the calculation of the equilibrium state; (2) the calculation of the eigenvalues of the vehicle using only the programs MEDYNA and SIMPACK. Two different test cases are investigated: (I) Application of the linear parameters of the Calspan tyre; and (II) application of the nonlinear Calspan tyre and linearisation by both programs; (III) responses to large vertical road profile features, investigated in four test cases: a) 'in-phase cosine bump' with speed v = 5 m/s; b) 'in-phase cosine bump' with speed v = 10 m/s; c) 'anti-phase cosine bump' with speed v = 5 m/s; and d) 'anti-phase cosine bump' with speed v = 10 m/s; and (IV) handling performance, investigated in: (a) ramp-to-step steer tests; and (b) sinusoidal steering tests.
