Abstract

Complex reflex reflectors photometrical behaviour is difficult to forecast. Actual engineering development essentially relies on prototyping or on a "trial and error" process. To increase forecast reliability, a software has been developed. This software not only simulates the microgeometry of reflex reflectors, but also their geometric tolerances during the electroplating process and the plastic lens behaviour during the moulding process. This simulation software gives very accurate output in terms of reflected light distribution and allows a safety margin of +/- 25 % regarding photometric values (mCd/lux).
