Single-lane traffic flow on circular and straight tracks.

Abstract

Experiments were carried out both on closed, circular tracks (in an attempt) to simulate an infinite road) and on a long straight section of a figure of eight track. The objects of the analysis were to see if light could be thrown on the flow-concentration relationship in a single lane, to examine the nature of flow in platoons, and to look at the way in which disturbances are propagated in a stream of traffic.
