Abstract

The on-site road surface recycling with cold-mix cement technique is one road surface recycling technique. This presentation discusses an experiment carried out by the CUBIERTAS Company, in the province of Cceres, in Spain, by way of this technique. It describes the work and the reasons behind such a technique, previous tests to determine the viability of the cold-mix recycling procedure, calculations used to measure the dimensions of the roadbeds area, previous tests based on which the highway is divided up so as to obtain the different doses of the working formulae, and tests carried out to control the uniformity of the finished work. Based on this experiment, we propose some of our concerns resulting from the difficulties that arose during the cold-mix measurement phase, due to the absence of a specific application standard on the subject; during the working formula determining phase, due to the heterogeneity of the existing materials and the difficulty in obtaining representative samples of materials from the different road segments; and during the testing and controls, when the correlation of results was carried out, due to the different factors that affect their dissemination.
