Abstract

Driving automation is more and more common due to the implementation of new ITS devices (such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) into the automobile. This is going to change the driving task, and concerns arise concerning the effects of automation (and its failure!) on driving performance. The present PhD-work aims at investigating the changing of the driver's top-down (mental models) and bottom-up processes as a consequence of different types and levels of automation induced by new ITS.
