Abstract

Cornering and side force, braking and circumferential slip as well as speed dependence of rubber friction of the pneumatic tyre are mathematically analyzed. Skid resistance of winter tyres, tread pattern and carcass construction effects on tyre friction are discussed. Hydrodynamic and tread compound effects and velocity dependence of the braking coefficient on wet roads are studied.
