Abstract

The authors consider the factors involved in the reduction of skidding resistance, the effect of polished stone value, urban road friction and accident types, and surface dressing as an accident countermeasure. Appendix 1 contains skidding resistance diagrams for national primary roads; appendix 2 presents diagrams of skidding resistance for urban national primary roads in selected towns.
